1946 Piper J3 Cub

The Piper J-3 is a classic American aircraft simple to maintain and easy to fly. It was first introduced in 1939 and again produced after WWII. The Army L-4 was actually a J-3. Many pilots received their training in a J-3. It was developed from the J-2 and retained many of the features but increased in gross weight. Pipers were diversified in their uses. In addition to trainers, both the J-2 and J-3 were used for hunting, aerial surveying and photography, and crop spraying. Production of the J-3 ended in 1947 with a total of 14, 125 produced.

This J-3, is part of the Schildberg collection, and is outfitted with rare Edo 1340 floats and tricycle land gear which was optional. It also has skis and rough terrain landing gear. Originally it had a Continental 65 hp engine but now has a 90 hp engine.
