Ann Holtgren Pellegreno

Ann has been an Iowa resident since 1969 and currently resides on a farm near Story City. She was the first woman to serve as a Commissioner for both the Iowa Aeronautics Commission and the Iowa Department of Transportation. As an author she has promoted the preservation and collection of Iowa aviation history. She was a contributor for “World Flight, the Earhart Trail.†She researched, wrote and published “Iowa Takes to the Air, Volume One 1845-1918†and “Iowa Takes to the Air, Volume Two 1919-1941.â€

In 1967 she successfully flew the Amelia Earhart World Flight Route in a sistership to Earhart’s Lockheed Electra. It marked the 30th anniversary of Earhart’s last flight. Ann is an accomplished pilot, airplane builder and restorer and has lectured and written various articles concerning the history of aviation.
